Greater Moncton International Airport Authority seeking expressions of interest for land development and commercialization
GREATER MONCTON, N.B. – The Greater Moncton International Airport Authority Inc. (GMIAA) is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified firms, developers and/or institutions outlining their interest in the development and commercialization of leased land controlled by the GMIAA.
EOI documents have been posted to the airport’s website at http://cyqm.ca/businesses/rfp-tenders. Deadline for receipt of expressions of interest for any of the nine blocks of land in question is Thursday, May 10, at 2 p.m. Suggested land use for the blocks vary from automotive, hotel, service station, general commercial and industrial.
Qualified firms, either on their own, in joint ventures or in other legal arrangements, must have the required demonstrated competence and experience in – and a thorough knowledge of – commercial real estate development. This includes project development and oversight, financing, marketing, design, leasing and management.
“We have a number of highly desirable properties for which we are seeking development partners,” said Bernard LeBlanc, CEO of the GMIAA. “We are one of southeastern New Brunswick’s major economic drivers, therefore the areas immediately surrounding the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport are prime locations for successful business ventures, especially related to cargo and transportation. With that said, we are open to any and all ideas and concepts from developers.”
A number of land parcels are available for development, some with frontage along Aviation Avenue. Other lands for priority development are located at the exit with Highway 15. These are the highest priority as their direct road frontage, proximity to the airport, and highway visibility and accessibility make them the most likely to attract commercial interest.
“We encourage respondents to prepare and submit innovative development ideas and conceptual business approaches for these sites,” said Glen Rollins, Director of Airport Commercial Development. “We are looking for respondents with the capacity to submit high-quality conceptual design responses. The successful respondents will address urban design, land-use mix, business case, and partnership options.”
