GREATER MONCTON, N.B. – The Greater Moncton International Airport Authority (GMIAA) is proud to announce that we now have a new cell phone waiting area to help ease vehicle congestion around the terminal building. This waiting area is to be used by individuals waiting to pick someone up without wanting to use the parking lot. The idea is for the passenger deplaning to give the person picking them up a call to drive up to the curbside just on time as they exit the terminal.
Drivers arriving to pick up passengers at the airport will be directed to the new cell phone waiting area located next to the airport on Aviation Avenue, as a measure to avoid vehicles idling curbside in front of the terminal building or around the property.
“I am very happy to introduce this type of waiting area as a customer service enhancement at the airport. It was recommended as a desired convenience by airport users during our recent Master Plan development process. It will also help improve security in and around the terminal building. With this change we’re going to encourage and direct curbside vehicles to go to the cell phone waiting area. It essentially is a safe, convenient and cost-effective way to wait for a person while staying in your vehicle for a maximum of 30 minutes”, said Bernard LeBlanc, President and CEO of the Greater Moncton International Airport Authority.
