GREATER MONCTON, NB, December 19, 2023 – The Greater Moncton International Airport Authority (GMIAA) is happy to announce the completion of two major infrastructure improvement projects at YQM that will help position the airport for continued growth.

The expansion of Apron VIII now accommodates more aircraft parking, and the expansion of the de-icing pad now allows for the de-icing of multiple aircraft simultaneously.

“YQM progressed well through recovery in 2023 and we’re finishing the year on a high note with the completion of two important projects that are making our airport even better, ” said GMIAA’s President and CEO, Courtney Burns.

These upgrades allow YQM to eliminate bottlenecks and enable the airport for continued passenger and cargo growth to move Canadian goods to international markets more efficiently, including live and fresh seafood.

The Government of Canada announced investments of up to $10.8 million at the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport for these upgrades through the National Trade Corridors Fund.

“Through the National Trade Corridors Fund, the expansion of Apron VIII and the de-icing pad is great news for the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport! These important infrastructure projects will strengthen the competitiveness and efficiency of our supply chains and help make life more affordable, said Canada’s Minister of Transport, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez.”

The project also included the overhauling and reconstruction of the road connecting the airport apron to cold storage and cargo staging facilities, which was completed in 2021, along with a new de-icing fluid management system, which was completed in 2020.
